'There’s something magical about a city in January - the way the snow muffles sound, the way breath fogs in the morning light, and how all the warmth in the world seems to gather under one roof when the design world converges in Toronto. This past January, the Interior Design Show (IDS) wrapped the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in an electric embrace of creativity and connection, and Hauer Market’s booth became one of those heartbeats within that beautiful organism of inspiration.

Where Stories Meet Craft

From January 22–25, designers, tastemakers, and dreamers wandered the aisles of installations and innovations — from illuminating light sculptures and immersive “How We Work” spaces to gallery-like showcases of materials and furniture that danced between art and function. It was a celebration of what’s possible in design right now — globally curious, locally grounded, and deeply human.

Amid this pulse of discovery, Hauer Market brought something quietly profound: a collection rooted in time. The booth (334) was a haven of weathered pottery, reclaimed wood tables, and heirloom treasures that looked like they had stories to whisper to every visitor who lingered. Each piece carried patina and history — vintage vessels, rustic benches, one-of-a-kind ceramics — welcoming designers and collectors into a moment of pause amidst the rush.

A Gathering of Kindred Spirits

The energy on the show floor was electric — warm conversations, delighted gasps over found treasures, and that beautiful alchemy when strangers share an appreciation for something that feels timeless. Hauer Market’s booth became more than a display; it became a meeting place for creative souls who see beauty in the imperfect, the well-worn, and the deeply storied.

Bridges were built with designers who envisioned these objects in future spaces, retailers eager for curated vintage—each connection a testament to why the wholesale world matters so deeply. This wasn’t just about transactions; it was about shared values, mutual admiration, and the kind of conversation that stays with you long after the show lights dim.

Media and Moments

The design community’s heartbeat was palpable — from vibrant opening parties to thought-provoking keynotes and curated features that highlighted how design shapes life, work, and play. House & Home invited the world to gather for House & Home Sunday, a day of enriching talks and conversations that underscored design’s emotional and functional role in our lives.

And through that hum of inspiration, Hauer Market stood as a quiet testament to something beautiful and enduring: that old things hold stories new things can’t, and that each object chosen with care has the power to transform the spaces we live in.

The Art of the Booth — Crafting a Space for Stories

Before the lights, the crowds, and the excitement, there were hours of quiet labor, thoughtful placement, and a touch of design intuition. Building the Hauer Market booth was like curating a miniature world — a space where every object felt at home, yet every corner held a hint of surprise.

Our team carefully layered textures, from the soft grain of reclaimed wood to the cool elegance of vintage ceramics. Each table, cabinet, and vessel was positioned not just for visibility, but for storytelling. Lighting was meticulously chosen to highlight the subtle imperfections that make every piece unique — a crack here, a patina there, each mark a badge of history.

It wasn’t just about setting up furniture; it was about creating a rhythm, a flow that invited visitors to wander, touch, and linger. Hours melted into days as we adjusted, re-adjusted, and perfected, knowing that the experience of our booth had to feel effortless, even though it was a labor of love.

When the final spotlight flicked on, and the first visitors stepped in, the space transformed. It wasn’t just a booth anymore — it was a sanctuary of stories, a curated experience of old-world charm meeting modern design sensibility, and a warm invitation for designers and collectors alike to dream.
